Nine two-minute chibi shorts from the official YouTube and X accounts, also included as a bonus on the Season 1 Part 2 Blu-ray. None of it feeds into the main story.
Shangri-La Frontier is one of the easier series to navigate. The two finished seasons run in a straight line, and Season 2 picks up the same thread without a gap, so watching them back to back feels like one long run rather than two separate chunks. The mini anime is a set of nine two-minute chibi shorts posted to the official YouTube and X accounts, starting three days before Season 1 premiered. They are pure comedy and carry no story you need, so you can dip into them during Season 1 or leave them for afterwards. Season 3 premieres in January 2027 and continues straight on from the end of Season 2, so once you finish the second season there is nothing left to watch until then.
Shangri-La Frontier has 2 seasons in the main run — 50 episodes altogether.

Where each part of the anime lines up with the source, so you know where to pick up reading.
Volume 14 opens with Chapter 126, which is the exact chapter Season 2 ends on, so picking up the physical volume costs you one chapter of overlap and nothing more. Kodansha USA publishes the series in English in both print and digital, and Volume 14 has been available since 2024, so nothing is gated behind a wait. The Japanese edition reached Volume 27 in July 2026 and the manga is still running weekly, so there is a long stretch of story past the anime. Worth knowing before you start: Season 3 begins from Chapter 127, so everything you read now is material the anime will cover from January 2027.
Start with Season 1. It runs 25 episodes and needs no prior material. Season 2 continues directly from it, so watch the two back to back if you can.
No. They are nine two-minute chibi comedy shorts released on the official YouTube and X accounts, and they are also on the Season 1 Part 2 Blu-ray as a bonus. Nothing in them affects the main story, so watch them only if you want extra jokes with the cast.
No. The special, titled Get Yourselves Caught up With This Light-Speed Recap, aired on January 14, 2024 between episodes 14 and 15 of Season 1. It is a 23-minute digest of the first 14 episodes with new narration from the cast and contains no new story. Skip it unless you are returning after a long break and want a refresher.
Season 2 ends at Chapter 126, so continue from Chapter 127. That chapter is in Volume 14, which opens with Chapter 126 itself, meaning you re-read one chapter and nothing more if you buy the volume. If you only watched Season 1, continue from Chapter 59 instead.
The anime is not finished. Season 2 ended on March 30, 2025, and Season 3 was announced the same night. It premieres in January 2027 on MBS, TBS and affiliated channels. The manga is still running weekly in Weekly Shonen Magazine, at 27 volumes in Japan as of July 2026.
Yes. Crunchyroll produced dubs for both seasons, with Season 1 starting on October 15, 2023 and Season 2 on October 27, 2024. The main cast carried over between seasons, with Eric Vale as Rakuro and Sunraku, Molly Zhang as Emul, Corey Pettit as Rei and Brittney Karbowski as Kei, so there is no recasting partway through.
No. Season 1 adapts Chapters 1 to 58 and Season 2 adapts Chapters 59 to 126, both running straight through the manga without anime-original detours. The only non-canon piece is the recap special, which is a digest rather than filler.
Crunchyroll carries both seasons in subtitled and dubbed form, and it is the main home for the series outside Asia. In Southeast Asia the series is handled by Muse Communication instead. Availability still varies by country, so check your local catalogue.
